When Gabriel, a messenger of God, came to Mary he said:<\/span><\/p>\n

Luke 1:31″And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Yeshua.<\/span><\/p>\n

And again, a messenger of God appeared to Joseph, the man that Mary was Betrothed too, and said:<\/span>Matthew 1:21″ She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Yeshua, for He will save His people from their sins.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Read that: \u2026you shall call His name Salvation, for He will save His people from their sins.<\/span><\/p>\n

The letter \u201cJ\u201d is new to all languages, it was introduced in the 1600\u2019s.\u00a0 Prior to that time Jesus was pronounced with a \u201cY\u201d sound in front.\u00a0 The English is a translation of the Greek which is transliterated \u201cIeesous\u201d.\u00a0 The Greek is a translation of the Hebrew.<\/span>[1]<\/a>\u00a0 Most Israelis pronounce and spell the name as \u201cYeshu\u201d and think of Yeshu as \u201cthe Christian God.\u201d\u00a0 However the name is properly spelled with the “a” (ayin) at the end.\u00a0 As Yosef (Joseph, Mariam’s husband) was instructed, \u201cYou are to call His name \u201cYeshua,\u201d for He will save His people from their sins.\u201d (Matthew 1:21) In the English the name Jesus has no reference, in the Hebrew the word yoshia, based on the same root as the name Yeshua, means \u201che will save,\u201d it explains everything.<\/span><\/span>[2]<\/a><\/p>\n

As Messianic Believers we prefer His given name Yeshua.<\/span><\/p>\n
